On 3 June 2017, during the London Bridge terrorist attack, Blue Diamond Security was providing an 8-person security team at a regular London venue with over 1,000 people in attendance, located just off Borough High Street.

Upon learning that an attack was in progress, our Security Team Leader (STL) immediately implemented the venue’s lockdown and invacuation plan.

Key actions included:

• Inviting approximately 200 members of the public from a neighbouring open-air venue into the building

• Securing the premises using a dedicated door lockdown system, allowing all external doors to be locked from inside in addition to standard locks

• Moving all occupants away from doors and windows

Due to the scale of the incident, the 999 system was overwhelmed. The STL contacted Blue Diamond Security’s out-of-hours manager, who successfully contacted emergency services and liaised directly with a London Police control room.

Once police confirmed that over 1,200 people were safely locked down inside the venue, armed officers were deployed outside, maintaining communication via our management team and providing ongoing updates and reassurance.

After the threat was neutralised:

• Police coordinated a controlled evacuation

• The venue was evacuated in groups of 100

• Occupants were escorted to a safe dispersal area

• The site was then secured and handed back to venue management under police escort
